This morning Jon stepped up (Ann had volunteered him) to make eggs, any style. The man is good in the kitchen!
He ended up making mostly omelettes. Colin devoured his 2 egg with cheese one and then got ready to head to camp for the final day.
After breakfast John took Colin to camp and then the rest of us headed for Duke Gardens and John met us there. It hadn't gotten really hot yet, so we had a nice walk through the gardens and over to Duke Chapel. It warmed up fast though and we headed to the Nasher Art Museum, just a block away. Nice and cool in there and some really interesting exhibits.
As you walked into the main gallery this guy was looking down at you. He was at least 8' high and 15' off the ground. The detail was incredible, down to the stubble on his chin. Very cool.
This statue was interesting also. We're not really "art" people, but it was a fun walk through to see what they had. It's a beautiful building and it's been open about a year.
By the time we all finished and headed outside it was heading to the high 90's so decided to head home where it was cool.
A little backtrack here ... Jill and Ryan headed back to Va Beach on Monday morning to help with the move in. They are renting a house from friends who are buying it for their move to Va. Beach in January. The house closing was supposed to be Thursday and the movers were coming with their goods on Friday. The closing did happen, but the folks were not out of the house yet and didn't finish getting out until Friday about 4. Needless to say the movers moved items into a couple of rooms. The timing on all this wasn't the best...renting is fun sometimes! Jill and Ryan headed back to Bahama early Friday afternoon with Riley. The movers had come and worked around the old owners getting out of the house and had put everything in a couple of rooms that Dave had cleaned out. Needless to say, nothing was unpacked and the furniture wasn't placed. I'm sure it was a long day for Dave!! Jill, Ryan and Riley arrived about 4:00.
Colin had a great last day at camp and came home with his space suit drawing that went up on the pantry door!
We did have a great evening on Appaloosa Trail though. Steaks and chicken on the grill, corn on the cob, potato and bean salad all around a table full of family catching up on lives and getting to know Jon. What a great family!
