We were up early this morning again for our walk through campus. The Thompson's Gazelles were by the school having a rest.
Then John, Jean and Laura headed to the Nairobi National Museum. They had interesting cultural and historic sections as a wonderful bird and animal display.
It is best known for it Dr. Louis Leakey skeleton collection. Unfortunately, you couldn't take pictures in there. Also, there was a collection of Joy Adamson's tribal portraits and plants. Then back into the van and off to the Masai Market. It's located on the 2nd floor of a very nice mall.
Laura did some good negotiating and got her giraffe and a purse. Jean felt like she was walking through One World Market 10 years ago. After a successful walk through we headed back to the Campus. After a short rest, we met Bob and we headed to the Eastern Escarpment for a walk down into the Rift Valley for some birding.
As we walked down the side of the hill we were joined by a young Maasai boy selling jewelry. His name was Simon and his Mother had made the necklaces. He walked along with us and told of about some of the plants and a little about his life. Very interesting.
The landscape down there was beautiful!! Lots of range area for the cows and goats with a lot of acacia trees.
We only saw a few birds but it was a beautiful walk anyway. On the way back up the hill we met Simon's Grandmother and Aunt.
Had this beautiful sunset as we reached the top of the Escarpment. We headed back and had a nice dinner and headed for bed! A very good day!
