View from the porch this morning...fabric drying...
rape seed drying...first morning of sun in 3 days.
A skylight - clever!!
Compact housing! Lots of round TV dishes.
Very limited and definitely no CNN for the locals.
A double banana! Two bananas in one skin!
Will have to watch for this wine at Costco!
After packing up, Rocco joined us and we headed up the road behind the hotel to see what was there... we walked past this farmer preparing for planting the rice.
new plants to us!!
Up the valley...
and down the valley.
More drying rape seed (canola).
We reached a turn in the path that was just going to go over the mountain so decided to go back into town and cross the river and following that road up the other side of the valley a ways.
This farmer heading out with his implements...
3-wheel trucks seems to be the
most popular transport here...
past the bamboo stripping shop...
and the lumber mill...
to the city gate for this side of the village.
We headed a little further up the hill and found the mountain they were bringing down to supply all the new road and construction materials. There is a constant parade of these dump trucks through town loaded with soil, sand, gravel etc. It makes for very dirty roads with deep potholes!
After lunch we headed for the parking lot again
and the ride to Guiyang on the new highway...5 hours.
This Village stay was definitely a HIGHLIGHT of our trip!!
And a safe arrival in Guiyang, dinner and fresh beds.
No happy hour space here though. What a great
