Bow Glacier Falls Hike

-1 C this morning and frost on the table, but no wind and a blue sky.  The sun is out and we’reheading
back up the Icefield Parkway to the Bow Glacier Falls Trailhead.
Definitely a boots day today!
We arrived at the parking lot just after a tour bus pulled in.
Good grief--hope they aren't all going to  the Falls!
The trail begins at the Num-Ti-Jah Lodge with a viewpoint and then
follows the lake around with beautiful views and gorgeous emerald water.

 Colors are changing.
A rocks and roots trail through the trees for awhile

Beautiful crinkle ice along the way.
Then rocks at the alluvial flats at the inlet of the Bow stream to the lake.
The Wapta Glacier with the leaning spire of Mt. St. Nicholas ahead.

 Wonderful reflections this morning.
 Great company too!!
 Up the steps (?)
But we headed on to the terminal moraine
and over to the larger rocks just along the falls.  From there really no trail just rock hopping.
Beautiful long falls that are fed by a small lake above the falls just below the Bow Glacier.

Great views of Bow Lake and the Lodge too!

 and surrounding mountains!
Spent quite a lot of time up there and then headed down.
 Back down the steps...
to the stream coming into the lake..

to the waters edge--it gets very deep very fast here!
When we got down we had lunch from the back of the car and then headed back into Lake Louise.
We headed up to the ski area just to see what was there and if there was a view.  Too many trees.
Then returned to the campground for quiet time—Gretchen read in her hammock, John took a
nap and I generally sorted and got things organized in my den in the car.   Then time for showers and
Chili for dinner.
A superb day!  It warmed up to 18 but is crashing fast and they're predicting 0C (32F) again for tonight..we're back in the high country again.  We'll all sleep well though.
