The wedding activities began shortly thereafter as John Wolcott had to go for a tux fitting along with grandson Tyler who is the ring bearer. They both looked very handsome--particularly Tyler in his bare feet :-)
After a little quiet time and some unpacking, we headed off on one of Judy's famous "San Antonio Adventures'' We headed downtown by the old Pearl Brewery and went to La Gloria restaurant where we experienced "the street foods of Mexico". The margaritas were very good and the food excellent. It's much like a Mexican tapas bar. We had the best serviche we've ever had!
Then we headed down the steps to the far end of the River Walk and wandered our way up to the old, more commercial section.
There are lovely plantings along the river and we saw this Night Heron waiting for his dinner....
alot of beautiful hybiscus....
and these beautiful fish. When we first walked by them it was still light and they looked pretty but on the way back we stopped and sat on some benches, near the underpass where the fish are hanging, waiting for the bats to come out. Well, the longer we waited, the more irridencent the fish became until they finally were almost glowing...and the way we were sitting made their gill and fin look almost like a duck in the water. Very interesting! However, we were told by one of the water taxi drivers that the bats haven't come out for the last several nights. Too bad. What a great start to a couple of very fun weeks ahead!
