Today to Kauai

It was up early this morning and off to the airport to fly to Kauai. It was a cloudy flight...a few broken areas. I sat with a couple who lived in Princeville where we will be staying and they gave me some tourist hints. Very nice folks. We arrived in Kauai shortly and lugged all the suitcases, carseats etc to the bu to go to the car rental place and we now have a nice large blue Dodge Caravan which we literally filled with all out stuff. You'd think we were moving for a month! We stopped by Costco and picked up some groceries and then headed north to Princeville. We had initially thought of going to see the Waimea Canyon and then going to Princeville, but John called yesterday and our room was going to be empty and available so we could check in early. It is a wonderful room with a balcony overlook the pool that has two waterfalls going into it. We brought in all the goodies and the boys and John and I went to the Clubhouse to pick up our leis and info and to sign up for a breakfast on Tues so they can sell us property here---not a chance! But we do get a 35% discount of many of the activites we want to do while we're here so it's worth the 90 minutes. Came back and had lunch and then headed for the Kilauea Lighthouse and National Reserve. It was terrific! It at the top of high cliffs overlooking the sea. There were red footed boobies nesting on a cliff opposite the area and Shearwater nests in the mountain along the trail and frigate birds flying overhead and nene's - the Hawaiian state bird wandering around the grounds and Albatross nesting on a hill on the other side. We also saw Humpback Whales breeching in the water. Will have to go back there and spend some more time. Misty rain intermittently but also alot of sunshine! We came home and the guys got on their swimsuits and headed for the pool and Jill and I headed for the grocery store. Not quite as horrid as we had hears...somethings about our cost but a loaf of bread was $5-6. We found the most important things was to apply for their VIP card--saved us a bundle! We came hame, fixed a quick dinner and then dyed Easter Eggs in preparation for the Easter Bunny on Sunday. We drove by an Episcopal Church not to from from here that we will go to for Easter. The little guys were both really tired, but they settled down pretty well. Time to hit the hay. Tomorrow we're off to the Waimea Canyon early!
