Epcot

We let the boys sleep in today. Had breakfast and then headed to Epcot.

Love that sphere...and the folks in front of it!! Dave was off on a fast-pass mission for Soaring! We headed to the Seas section to meet him. Had a good time listening to the birds at their sign...
When Dave arrived, we headed back to the Land and did the voyage through the land. It's always interesting to see their latest research...

Then on to The Seas with Nemo and Friends in the Clamobile.

Next up was Turtle Talk with Crush.
There was a really interesting interactive area in the waiting room for Crush.
The Baird boys are well versed on turtles!

YIKES!!

Fast Pass time for Soaring! It was a favorite with everyone!

On to Innoventions where Colin, Dave and Grandma did
a studyto see how good we were at recycling...
Colin docking the monitor.

Team CDB did great-- 11 of 12 for Sort it Out - Energy saved from Recycling;
32 of 32 for Fuel the Burn - Energy created from Waste to Energy Plant;
24 of 24 for Land Fill Up - Energy created from landfill gas to energy.

Jill and Dave headed to the Test Track while the rest of
us rode on Spaceship Earth inside the big sphere.
Lots of Lightening McQueen and Mader evident--Cars 2 comes out in a month.

We walked over to the World Showcase. Our first stop was Canada.

We had intended to see the movie but got side tracked by the Kidcot Fun Spot along the path. They had a drawing of Duffy the Disney Bear dressed up in a Canadian costume and stapled onto a large paint stick. The kids could color it and then get it stamped with the country stamp. Each country had a similar spot where they could collect the stamps on the wood handle. You could also buy a passport book and then the host would write a comment about their country as well as add the stamp. It was fun seeking these spots out and getting their stamps. It was also nice to just relax and wander after two very hectic days and jet lag. Everybody did great!

After Canada on to Japan as we could hear the drummers playing.
Two women and a man could make magic on these drums!

Time for lunch at Teppan Edo where they cooked
before our eyes. A little sushi to begin with.
then our chef came to fix our meals...
He made this great onion volcano - it even erupted. The boys loved that one!

After lunch the drummers were using the same drums...different technique.
In the courtyard a woman was demonstrating cornstarch candy making. With a ball of colored cornstarch dough, she would take a small pair of scissors and cut into the dough making different shapes of animals and birds.

Then, just as we were leaving, the drum group did a whole new act with huge drums!
They were fascinating to watch!

On down the road to Italy...
There was a wonderful juggler/mime....great fun!

We wandered through the shops of Italy and got the stamps for the boys and then headed next door to Germany. They had a wonderful Pastry shop there so got dessert!
Colin chose chocolate covered marshmallows on a stick - YUM!

On to China after we finished dessert.

We entered the huge round building to wait for the Circle-Vision movie. As we walked into the building, this was the ceiling above us...
Beautifully handcarved inset woods.

As we waited for the movie to begin, we visited the model of the terra cotta soldiers guarding the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, first emporer of the Qin dynasty. The tomb is over 2000 years old and stretches over 22 square miles. They are still making discoveries there.
It was fascinating to see the difference in the faces and outfits. Quite remarkable. We then went into the movie which was centered on the Great Wall and all the different areas of China it covers. The movie exit led us directly into the gift shops where the boys found some great games and toys.

They both got the hang of it pretty fast. We got the China stamp and then headed on to Norway for the Viking Boat Voyage.
There were trolls everywhere in the shops of Norway.

We headed on to Mexico and did the boat ride and got the stamp and then wandered back through the showcase stopping at countries we'd missed. Everyone was getting pretty weary so we headed to the dock and caught the ferry back across the lake hoping to go see Imagination with Figment, but it was closed...so we wandered a little more and then headed for the parking lot as it was getting dark. It had been a very fun and different day, but another GREAT one!
