Rearguard Falls to Wells Grey Provincial Park

Up early this morning and off to Wells Grey Provincial Park.

Along the road there was one mountain with a huge glacier. Don’t know the name of it but wondering if it was Glacier National Park. It was spectacular!

We’re more into lake and river area here so not the spectacular huge peaks but beautiful green mountains with aspen, birch and spruce.

We stopped at Rearguard Falls on the way to Wells Grey...wonderful!

At the upper viewpoint you are right there!

We stopped at Clearwater to go to the Visitor’s Center to get info on Wells Grey PP and then the bank and a quick grocery store stop. On to Well’s Grey Provincial Park. There is a long road from Clearwater into the park area through spruce and aspen woods. The first 37 km are public lands so all sorts of B&B’s and Inns along the way. Then into the park entrance and trailheads all along the way to Clearwater Lake.
We saw a loon on Secret Lake going up. We decided to stay at the Clearwater Campground and got a nice site with the Clearwater River racing along beside us and a nice tent pad. Put up the tent and had lunch and then headed out for an adventure.
We decided to do the Dragon’s Tongue
and Sticta Falls trail
More Mushrooms!
Then came back down the trail to the Osprey Falls Overlook Trail and took that up to the viewpoint for this wonderful horseshoe shaped falls.
It’s at the very top of a mountain so there was a fairly good climb involved in that one, but beautiful falls and a great view of the valley below. Then back down to the campsite and dinner. We finished reorganizing the car and cleaning the cooler and are finishing up a few details and then off to bed. Should be a good sleep with the water sounds tonight. Actually had water sounds on the tent too! Thunder and lightning accompanied a couple of rainstorms…neither lasted too long.
