The first flurries began just after noon on Wednesday. It was a very fine snow but fell at an incredible rate. We had an inch in no time and it kept falling - beautiful!!
Up to 2" now and still coming down!
It snowed until about 5 or 6 and then it turned to sleet.
Continued some overnight.
In the morning we had 1/2-3/4" of ice on top of the snow.
It started to snow again...this time large gorgeous flakes and accumulated more snow really fast!
and the sledding began!
We got bundled up for a walk and headed out. The kids across the street were out so we headed over there. Their dog Daisy was loving the snow. She kept breaking through the ice layer but it didn't stop her. She was having a ball!!
We could barely see the house from the street!
This snow was great for snowmen!!
John's in the blue coat.
Ummm...what to use for eyes - Charcoal!!
While the kids finished up we headed up the hill...
It was beautiful in the trees!
We took the nature trail down the hill...beautiful!
By the time we got back up the hill the kids had
added two cats to the snowman! Great Job.
It was beautiful all day and is glowed in the full moon at night!
Now it's Friday and the sun is out and it's melting like mad! :-(
John clearing the snow layer off the driveway...
though we don't have plans to go anywhere.
Lots of stuff still closed so no volunteering today.
This doesn't happen very often in NC so we LOVE every minute of it!!
