Duke Lemur Center

Gretchen joined us as we went to the Duke Lemur House this morning.  We've been talking about going for years and there was a Living Social Deal that I grabbed that finally got us in the door!  It was a gorgeous day to wander the grounds.  The Lemur Center is a research facility and is also involved in the conservation of lemurs in Madagascar and works jointly with several organizations in their conservation and education efforts.  Just a few of their Lemurs below.  We had a great time on the tour and highly recommend it - especially for the grandkids!!  They also use volunteers!  Visit their website at http://lemur.duke.edu/ for more information.
Not easy to get good pictures when they're behind bars.

These guys were in the nocturnal house.

Jan Lamb's Last Day at St. Luke's

A very  mixed feelings day today at St. Luke's....very sad to see Jan leave as our Deacon, but also a wonderful day as she begins her association with the Raleigh Campus Ministries.  We know how wonderful those Campus Ministries are!
 It was quite the celebration!
Lots of food...and this was for 8:00!
and even Wayne is here to celebrate!

Her presence and ministry among us will be greatly missed...but she can come back and be a part of our parish when she chooses and she is going to Belize in February so while not here all the time, we're still home for her where she is always welcome with open arms!

New Car for John and Jean

John playing with his new car.  Our old one was in for repairs and it was just getting too expensive to put that much money into a 10 year old car with 178,000 miles on it...so he walked into the showroom and our new baby is here!  Very nice!!!

Moving In Day - Welcome to Durham Gretchen!!

John and I were up early to finish the last of the vaccuming and a little pickup and then we were on our way to Durham to meet the movers.
Farewell Christiansburg..lots of good friends and memories.
Trucks here...time to begin.

 Everything out and accounted for.
A short break to celebrate an empty truck.  Pretty easy move for us but it looks like a bit of work is still to be done when they leave :-)

Moving Day for Gretchen

It's moving day from Christiansburg today.  John and I are here to help Gretchen out as she's buried at work right now and we were happy to do this part of the move for her.
Closing will be Friday and after a fair amount of looking, Gretchen found a house in the Briar Creek area of Durham to rent for a year until she decides where she want to settle.
TROSA truck arrives from Durham and the adventure begins!
 First items in the truck...
 Lots of wrapping...
 and boxing...
 moving right along...
wonder how many yards of plastic...
 trucks filling up...
 Lunch time...good pizza!
Everything in and locked up.  We'll all spend the night
in Christiansburg and then meet tomorrow at her house
 in Durham.  Long Day!!
What a wonderful first house she's been!
